Recreational, Social, Respite & Skill building Programs & Activities

We offer programs in a 24,000 square foot, multi-generational & multi-functional facility. Location: Bridges Recreation and Support Services at the Pen Centre

& various community settings throughout the Niagara Region with fun-filled

& meaningful lifespan activities for ages: Preschool, Child, Youth, Teen, Adult,

Senior. Program rates are based on type of Program, type of staff needed, materials, ratio, support needed and behavioral needs of the participant to

be discussed at time of registration. Independent individuals may receive

reduced rates depending on program and enrollment. For Individuals in need

of communication support and/or behavioral support we use visuals, choice

boards, first-then, token boards and social stories for those who would benefit

and also explore other methods or methods parents inform us about to

encourage participant communication. Bridges staff to participant ratios at this time include: One-on-one support, 1:2, 2: 5 and 1:3. Staff engage and encourage participants giving them the support they need to make their experience with us fun, meaningful and progressive. In programs

and activities where participants are independent and require less support we

offer a 1:5 or 1:6 ratio. In programs/activities with varying ages for example a program for both child & youth, participants are grouped according to age and developmental abilities. There may or may not be mixed age scheduled activities in a common area depending on type of program and the ability of those enrolled to get along with each other.

Preschool Program - ABC Play & Grow Gym    Age: 3-5

Level 1 - An introductory combination activity program, designed for small group and one-on-one in the form of activity stations. This program is the start of your child getting to know Bridges and us getting to learn more about them. We use the developmental milestones of the first 12 months as guidelines for baseline or fundamental patterns and track progress in a fun filled environment that is safe and nurturing for your child. With higher staff to child ratio, Program facilitators will have the extra staff for rotating continually and to each child for their one- on -one activities. Children that are non verbal or have emerging verbal ability will practice language & communication skills, use their imagination through play and get creative with music & movement activities, songs & games. Children will participate in circle time and stories and rotate through gross motor movement stations, sensory and fine motor skill building activities.  These mini classes make up the program. Up coming: this program will expand to other levels and topics that are designed to suite the needs and goals of the children enrolled.
