A Trusted Provider with Trained, Qualified, Experienced and Compassionate Staff. Providing Safe, Dignified and Meaningful Recreation & Social Programs, Evidence-based Therapy and Support Services for families and individuals of all ages. Services are offered at the BSSN facility, in client's homes and in varying community settings throughout the Niagara Region including but not limited to: The Pen Centre, long-term care facilities & hospitals.  

Mission

 

BSSN serves all Senior Citizens and people of all ages living with Developmental, Intellectual or Physical Disability, ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder), Temporary Conditions, Acquired Brain Injury and Degenerative Conditions such as Dementia, Parkinsons and others.

Services are open to the Public and extended to families with children & seniors and welcome those who can benefit from the services we have to offer. BSSN offers supportive bridging opportunities for community integration and supportive living for individuals living on their own, with family, long term care or in varying community settings with services tailored to their individual needs, to help them build skills for and/or maintain their independence by providing assistance and support, social and continued learning opportunities.

 

Support is offered on a part-time or full-time basis, that range in intensity from a few hours a week: part-time home and/or community support, to full-time supported living services 24 hours a day.

 

BSSN provides a Person and Family Centred Approach with Individualized goal-oriented and needs based plans. BSSN aims to bridge gaps to lessen wait times for services and to provide a progressive continuum of services throughout the lifespan that include but are not limited to: Pen Centre Mall Shop N Mind Program for children, Pen Centre Mall Companionship and Shopping Assistance Service, Respite for Caregivers, Therapeutic Services, Life and Vocational Skill Building as well as Recreational, Social and Leisure activities that enhance quality of life, mind, body and spirit.

Who We Are

Bridges Recreation, Learning and Support Services Niagara is an added registered name, a division of the Bridges for Autism Brand since 2019 that reflects expansion of services. BSSN (Bridges Support Services Niagara) was born out of Bridges for Autism Incorporated a Provincial Not for Profit Organization created in 2015. The Co founders, President -Al Dobbin and Executive Director Sherry Dobbin have many years of combined past experience in the above related fields. Consisting of first hand knowledge and experience personally and from past careers and continued research. Being parents of 3 young adults and 1 child on the Autism Spectrum was the reason they first sprung into action. With years experience providing Personal Care & Home Care for seniors, individuals with special needs and brain injury is why they expanded their services. Committed To Excellence in service delivery, they have put together a Team of Professionals that include Professional Advisors, a Mentor and a wide range of Qualified Staff with Experience in these related fields, to bring high quality service to their clients and participants.

BSSN Team

Staff are carefully matched and placed with clients, individually and in group programs. These services are implemented at the Facility/ in the Community /or in Homes and based on client's needs and goals. 

BSSN hires the necessary staff needed based on the clients we serve. In the event we do not have the staff needed for specific clients, we then may seek out and hire staff with the credentials required for the position and to add to our team. We are an ever growing service model development that aims to meet the needs of communities within the Niagara Region. BSSN also welcomes families coming from outside the Niagara Region. BSSN Team consists of, but is not limited to:

Home & Personal Care​ - Home Support Workers, Personal Support Workers, Nursing

Facility / Community / Home/ - Child & Youth Workers, Developmental Support Workers, Personal Support Workers, Recreation Therapists, Educational Assistant for Special Needs, Social Workers,  ABA (Applied Behavior Analyst) Facilitators, BCBA ( Board Certified Behavior Analyst ) & BCBA-D, Professor & PhD in Kinesiology and Physical Education, Speech Language Pathology, Occupational Therapy  varying Recreational Program & Fitness Instructors. BSSN hires Support Workers with varying backgrounds such as Psychology, teaching, child care, physical education, rec & leisure, police sciences and more. BSSN hires both Professionals with years of experience in related fields and students that have newly graduated or working towards their Bachelor's and /or Master's Degree in related fields as well as those who show genuine interest and compassion for the populations we serve. Bridges staff has group and on the job training. Staff have position related certifications and credentials, police checked and has varying levels of CPR & First Aid necessary for position requirements.
